Captain is another central character in A Tiger for Malgudi. He Is a native of Malgudi town. He was a hard-working and innovative man. Because of his hardworking, he became the owner of the “Grand Malgudi Circus”. He gives at most care and attention to animals in the circus.
He is also an efficient manager. He knows how to manage and control a circus troupe including hundreds of men, women, and animals.
He is a strict man during the training period, but he has a deep concern for his animals. He always finds resting time for animals despite the busy circus schedule. And he regulates time for working and rest.
Captain has special consideration for the tiger, Raja, who is the center attraction of the circus. Initial stages of Tiger’s training, Captain refuses to use an electric gadget.
He is not a responsible man as a father and husband. He did not give any consideration to the opinion of his wife. She is always forced to sacrifice her wishes for the sake husband’s interest. But he was a greedy person for money. For earning more money he accepted an offer from the film director, Madam. Captain finally uses the electric weapon during the time of training for the film and gets killed by the tiger. He was really a man with a business interest. His greed for money finally brings him death.
