The same question can be asked in different ways:

- What is a presentation? How to prepare an effective presentation?
- How to plan a successful presentation? Explain different parts.
Presentation is a way of communicating ideas and information to a group. The objective of the presentation is to help the listener to understand the message or topic. Besides this, convincing the listener is also a primary objective of a presentation. In order to achieve these objectives, the presentation has to be clear, coherent, well structured, and concise. Therefore in order to be effective and impressive in your presentation, you need to plan and prepare your presentations in advance. Now let’s have a look at how to structure an effective and impressive presentation
A presentation has three parts- beginning, middle, and end. Therefore it is essential to divide your presentation into three parts.

The beginning is an important part of a presentation. It has to attract or grab the attention of the audience. In the beginning section, we have to introduce ourselves– our name, designation, name of the institution where we work, etc, besides this presenter has to state the purpose of the presentation. This is important to disclose the reason or aim of the presentation at the beginning. Relate the subject with the life of the audience. It means that the audience should be able to connect the topic of the presentation with social or business life. After this presenter has to give an outline of the presentation.
This beginning part is also known as the introduction of the presentation.

This is the second part where we present important ideas one by one in systematic order. In the middle section or part, do not stuff with more than four ideas. Highlight only important ideas do not dense your presentation with unnecessary explanations and examples. Support each main idea with facts. It means when you make any statement, you have to present a valid reason or evidence to substantiate it. Another thing you have to remember is that use signposting wherever it is needed. Signposting are the words or phrases that can be used for connecting different ideas, sentences, or paragraphs. It helps listeners connect different points and ideas explained in the presentation. Using visual aids has a significant role in a presentation. A variety of visual aids like flip charts, line graphs, bar graphs, pie charts, pictograms, maps, tables, diagrams, photographs, etc can be used in the presentation. It makes a presentation more meaningful and interesting.

This is the last part of the presentation. This is a concluding part of a presentation. In the ending part, the presenters usually summarise the entire presentation and they have to confirm what they said in the presentation. This part does not introduce any new points or ideas. If there is any recommendation regarding the topic or subject that can be presented in this part. Apart from that, the presenter has to invite questions from the audience related to the topic discussed in the presentation. If the presentation was about a problem, you could restate the problem, then provide the solution in no more than two sentences
We can use the following expressions in the concluding or ending part of a presentation:
- I’d like to summarize/sum up.
- At this stage, I would like to run through/ over the main points…
- So, as we have seen today….
- As I have tried to explain this morning ……..
- To restate my main points
Presentation has a significant role in professional and educational life for various purposes. In addition, it has recently become part of the recruitment process as well. To prepare an effective presentation, it has to be well structured and planned. Otherwise, the presenter may not get the expected result.
